Wired and Fired

My sweet friend Kelli and I had been talking about painting pottery together for awhile so we decided to head over to this quaint little part of town called Virginia Highlands to check out the Wired and Fired studio. We were also able to talk Erin into coming along with us, and even though she was scared to mess up, she turned out to be quite the Little Miss Artist!

Anyone who knows me knows how much I am in love with painting pottery, and because I have gone way too many times, I am running out of new things to paint each time I go. Tom and I decided that every year we wanted to get a Christmas ornament that represented what happened that year or was going on for us at the time. Soooo, I decided I would paint our first ornament! Sure, it might not be as pretty as a store bought one, but who cares! Kelli and Erin both decided to paint some pretty serving platters.

Erin made a "fall" platter and used leaves from outside as stamps! She was very excited that it actually worked..

Finished products! My ornament says Jenkins First Christmas 2009...

Morning Sickness...

and afternoon sickness, and especially evening sickness.

I don't know who came up with the term "morning sickness", but I think a more appropriate name would be "anytime it feels like coming sickness" because it definitely doesn't do its job leaving once the morning is over. I have noticed, however, that I tend to get sick more often when I am tired(which is alot!) and/or hungry. One of Tom's coworkers told him an old wives' tale that if a pregnant woman climbs out of bed over her husband, she won't get sick that day. Most days I don't even think of that but occasionally Tom will say "wait honey, crawl over me to get out of bed so you won't get sick" and I have to say as crazy as it sounds, I did NOT get sick on those days! Some may say it's a psychological thing, and I don't really care what it is...but it works! So needless to say, when I am out in public or anywhere really, I am always scoping out my nearest escape route to the bathroom just in case, because I just can't predict it.

I'm so thankful that I have Tom here to help take care of me with his seemingly endless patience. He's really helped me out so much when I am tired by cooking dinner and bringing me home cravings and sweet surprises, and he's always there to hold back my hair and rub my back when I get sick. Thank you Tom for being so awesome!

What's Cookin' with the Newlyweds...

A bun in the oven!

As some of you may already know, we found out about 3 weeks ago that I am pregnant! Some of you may ask, was this planned? Yes...it was. We made the decision a few months back that we were ready to have children whenever God chose to bless us with them, whether it was now or years down the road. Just weeks later, after Aunt Flo decided not to show her face, we found out it was NOW He chose to bless us. (And we truly mean BLESS, because every time a child is mentioned in the Bible, they are talked about as a blessing.) We are beyond thankful for God's grace in giving us what we do not deserve. Tom and I are so thankful that the Lord is entrusting this child to us and we want to glorify God through all of this because He is the Giver of Life!
